Package: openssh-server Version: 1:7.2p2-5 Severity: normal Rebooted my computer today and found that "ssh.service" did not start:
Missing privilege separation directory: /var/run/sshd "sudo mkdir /var/run/sshd" fixed the problem. IMHO the best way to fix this problem permanently would be to add "debian/openssh-server.ssh.tmpfile" file with the following content: ~~~~ d /var/run/sshd 0755 root root ~~~~ Thanks. --- System information. --- Architecture: amd64 Kernel: Linux 4.5.0-1-amd64 --- Package information. --- Depends (Version) | Installed ==========================================-+-=================== libc6 (>= 2.17) | libcomerr2 (>= 1.01) | libgssapi-krb5-2 (>= 1.12.1+dfsg-2) | libkrb5-3 (>= 1.6.dfsg.2) | libpam0g (>= 0.99.7.1) | libselinux1 (>= 1.32) | libssl1.0.0 (>= 1.0.1) | libwrap0 (>= 7.6-4~) | zlib1g (>= 1:1.1.4) | debconf (>= 0.5) | OR debconf-2.0 | init-system-helpers (>= 1.18~) | openssh-client (= 1:6.6p1-7) | libpam-runtime (>= 0.76-14) | libpam-modules (>= 0.72-9) | adduser (>= 3.9) | dpkg (>= 1.9.0) | lsb-base (>= 4.1+Debian3) | procps | openssh-sftp-server | Recommends (Version) | Installed ===========================-+-=========== xauth | 1:1.0.9-1 ncurses-term | 6.0+20160319-1 Suggests (Version) | Installed ===========================-+-=========== ssh-askpass | 1:1.2.4.1-9 rssh | molly-guard | ufw | monkeysphere | 0.37-3 -- Best wishes, Dmitry Smirnov GPG key : 4096R/53968D1B --- The surest way to corrupt a youth is to instruct him to hold in higher esteem those who think alike than those who think differently. -- Friedrich Nietzsche
