Package: libjpeg-progs
Version: 1:9b-1
Severity: wishlist

Dear Maintainer,

Bug #160390 either regressed or was erroneously closed to begin with. The -drop
patch, as released in http://jpegclub.org/jpegtran/ under
http://jpegclub.org/droppatch.v9b.tar.gz is not merged into the package.

It is quite trivial to patch and compile the package following the usual "sudo
apt-get build-dep libjpeg-progs", "apt-get source libjpeg-progs" and simply
overriding the three source files to apply the patch. "configure" and "make
install" compile and deploy to /usr/local/ successfully. Once deployed, The
-drop lossless merging functionality works as expected.

To clarify on this decade old bug, this isn't a mixup between
libjpeg-turbo-progs and libjpeg-progs. A separate request has been raised in
libjpeg-turbo-progs upstream (
https://github.com/libjpeg-turbo/libjpeg-turbo/issues/71 ) regarding this
functionality, but that does not concern this issue directly since the code
bases have drifted apart over the years rendering the -drop patch incompatible
as a drop-in patch.
