See this faq and the one following: https://btrfs.wiki.kernel.org/index.php/FAQ#What_version_of_btrfs-progs_should_I_use_for_my_kernel.3F worst issue you should see is possibly creating a new filesystem that can't be mounted with the old kernel, but by now it would have to be very old for that too happen.
