Indeed. For someone who uses Xfce and rely on xscreensaver only for locking, it's a matter of switching to light-locker and uncommenting the line "greeter-hide-users=false" in "/etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf". This way it behaviors in a way pretty close to the former. Thanks for the suggestion.
