I tried to install the latest version manually from the Debian testing package.
I started to upgrade the dependencies too, but soon got entangled in a net of
dependencies and decided, I’d better roll back. I would have to upgrade so many
packages manually, I fear I would endanger the stability of my productive
machine. Is there no other way to test the latest version?

As to using the PPA: I’m not shure if this would work, since it doesn’t include
the latest perl etc. packages I need to run the latest gscan2pdf.

What can I do?
