Package: wine Version: 1.8.1-1 Severity: normal Wrapper scripts like /usr/bin/wineserver print informational info to stdout instead of stderr.
My main usecase for Wine is to run program test suites when I cross compile from Linux to Windows. Having these informational messages on stdout and then having to remove them in my test suite is inconvienient. If instead these messages were on stderr I could just pipe stderr to /dev/null. In addition, I would be able to do it once in the test wrapper script instead of having to deal with each program output separately. -- System Information: Debian Release: stretch/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (900, 'testing'), (800, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing-updates'), (500, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386, armhf, arm64 Kernel: Linux 4.3.0-1-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_AU.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_AU.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) (ignored: LC_ALL set to en_AU.UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages wine depends on: ii wine32 1.8.1-1 ii wine64 1.8.1-1 wine recommends no packages.
