Package: tightvncserver Version: 1.2.9-6 Severity: normal The vncpasswd binary from vnc-common package does not support the setting of a view-only mode password for the TightVNC server. This seems to be reasoned by the fact that the vncpasswd sources in the vnc-common package come from RealVNC, which does not have such a feature.
This package should install a /usr/bin/vncpasswd alternative, which is compliant to the TightVNC features. I assume this not to be a vnc-common bug, unless the vnc-common vncpasswd binary is taught to support view-only passwords. If an alternative is installed, the man page should also get an alternative. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.8-2-686-smp Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Versions of packages tightvncserver depends on: ii dpkg 1.10.28 Package maintenance system for Deb ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-22 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libjpeg62 6b-10 The Independent JPEG Group's JPEG ii libx11-6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-14 X Window System protocol client li ii libxext6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-14 X Window System miscellaneous exte ii perl 5.8.4-8 Larry Wall's Practical Extraction ii vnc-common 3.3.7-7 Virtual network computing server s ii xbase-clients 4.3.0.dfsg.1-14 miscellaneous X clients ii xlibs 4.3.0.dfsg.1-14 X Keyboard Extension (XKB) configu ii xserver-common 4.3.0.dfsg.1-14 files and utilities common to all ii zlib1g 1:1.2.2-4 compression library - runtime -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
