Sorry, it seems that your response never reached me, and I've noticed it now
only when visiting the BTS while merging the new version of heimdal into
Ubuntu.

You're building with *--parallel*.  Just because there's a call to
make-proto.pl that starts before trying to build string2key.o does not mean
it has *finished running* and generated that file by the time string2key.c
is being compiled.

The Makefile has not been changed upstream to implement this dependency
declaration.  The patch is still required.
