Sure, that could be, but I don't have the time to maintain backports
currently. I'm just Cc-ing current/latest backporter, just in case he
could be interested.

Though I also prefer packaged software, building Claws Mail git version
from source is not specially difficult in Debian stable, if you don't
mind to download the build toolchain and dependencies.
