Hi Jurgen If it is not running something is wrong with the cron daemon. Is 'cron' running?
Also do you have logs from anything else, maybe you do not have syslog installed? Please also note that by default it is just run once per day (night actually) so you have to check a log of logs. You can check the logs like this: grep -i cron-apt /var/log/* If you see any lines there it has been run.
