Package: pepperflashplugin-nonfree Version: 1.8.1+b1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer,
I wanted to get flash working in Chromium, so I followed the instructions on the wiki (https://wiki.debian.org/PepperFlashPlayer/Installing). So, I did the following on my terminal: > $ sudo apt-get install pepperflashplugin-nonfree > browser-plugin-freshplayer-pepperflash > Reading package lists... Done > Building dependency tree > Reading state information... Done > Suggested packages: > ttf-mscorefonts-installer ttf-dejavu ttf-xfree86-nonfree hal > The following NEW packages will be installed: > browser-plugin-freshplayer-pepperflash pepperflashplugin-nonfree > 0 upgraded, 2 newly installed, 0 to remove and 44 not upgraded. > Need to get 0 B/240 kB of archives. > After this operation, 629 kB of additional disk space will be used. > Selecting previously unselected package pepperflashplugin-nonfree. > (Reading database ... 184992 files and directories currently installed.) > Preparing to unpack .../pepperflashplugin-nonfree_1.8.1+b1_amd64.deb ... > Unpacking pepperflashplugin-nonfree (1.8.1+b1) ... > Selecting previously unselected package > browser-plugin-freshplayer-pepperflash. > Preparing to unpack > .../browser-plugin-freshplayer-pepperflash_0.3.2-1+b1_amd64.deb ... > Unpacking browser-plugin-freshplayer-pepperflash (0.3.2-1+b1) ... > Setting up pepperflashplugin-nonfree (1.8.1+b1) ... > ERROR: failed to retrieve status information from google : W: Can't drop > privileges for downloading as file > './var/lib/apt/lists/partial/dl.google.com_linux_chrome_deb_dists_stable_InRelease' > couldn't be accessed by user '_apt'. - pkgAcquire::Run (13: Permission > denied) > More information might be available at: > http://wiki.debian.org/PepperFlashPlayer > Setting up browser-plugin-freshplayer-pepperflash (0.3.2-1+b1) ... As you can see an error occurs when setting up the pepperflashplugin. Therefor you can probably already imagine that Flash won't work in Chromium. I checked "chrome://plugins/" and it doesn't show me the pepperflashplugin being installed. Doing an apt-get purge/remove and reinstalling the packages doesn't fix the issue. So I followed the advice from a more linux experienced friend who told me that I should report that issue here. Thanks for your time and I hope that this issue can be resolved. -- System Information: Debian Release: stretch/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 4.2.0-1-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages pepperflashplugin-nonfree depends on: ii binutils 2.25.90.20151209-1 ii ca-certificates 20150426 ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.58 ii gnupg 1.4.19-6 ii libatk1.0-0 2.18.0-1 ii libcairo2 1.14.4-1 ii libcurl3-gnutls 7.45.0-1+b1 ii libfontconfig1 2.11.0-6.3 ii libfreetype6 2.6.1-0.1 ii libgcc1 1:5.3.1-3 ii libglib2.0-0 2.46.2-1 ii libgtk2.0-0 2.24.29-1 ii libnspr4 2:4.11-1 ii libnss3 2:3.21-1 ii libpango-1.0-0 1.38.1-1 ii libpango1.0-0 1.38.1-1 ii libstdc++6 5.3.1-3 ii libx11-6 2:1.6.3-1 ii libxext6 2:1.3.3-1 ii libxt6 1:1.1.5-1 ii wget 1.17.1-1 pepperflashplugin-nonfree recommends no packages.
