Yes, it looks like we did some parallel work there. My .deb rules for Ubuntu seem to work fine so far. I also tested them on Raspbian and want to test them with Debian, too. I didn't approach Serge because the debian/ rules aren't finished yet. The goal is to make them debian-compliant and thus acceptable for Debian, but there's quite some work to do until then (licensing issues and the vendor/ directory).
