Guten Morgen Eduard ;-)

I am terribly sorry -- I have been literally dreaming about receiving an
update on this issue from time to time (well - every day receiving cron
emails), but managed to miss you reply this many months ago. So I was
glad to un-dig your email.

only very old entries:

smaug# zgrep smaug /var/log/apt-cacher-ng/apt*.log*
/var/log/apt-cacher-ng/apt-cacher.log.6.gz:1420946890|O|393|129.170.30.61|smaug/http.debian.net/debian/dists/wheezy/Release.gpg

/var/log/apt-cacher-ng/apt-cacher.log.6.gz:1420946890|O|393|129.170.30.61|smaug/http.debian.net/debian/dists/wheezy/main/binary-amd64/Packages.bz2
/var/log/apt-cacher-ng/apt-cacher.log.6.gz:1420946890|O|393|129.170.30.61|smaug/http.debian.net/debian/dists/wheezy/non-free/binary-amd64/Packages.bz2
... more in that .6.gz which dates Apr 1, 2015

ok -- will do!

Do you think it is worthwhile before this to upgrade to the most recent
backport?
