It looks like the blockages mostly affect the old release that is still in Debian jessie (and sid), as they rely on an ancient Boost version with a serious lack of C++11/GCC5 compatibility. The latest KiCAD releases use Boost 1.54 internally, but work perfectly well if built against the Boost 1.58 that is the default in stretch.
