If this is happening a lot because you have a screw-ball hardware
clock, why not just disable the the time-based check altogether?

        tune2fs -i 0 /dev/hdXXX

Better yet, you could *fix* the busted hardware clock, or whatever is
causing the underlying problem in the first place....
