Having exactly the same problem: sudo shutdown -h now

Broadcast message from iser@endeavor on pts/1 (Ter 2015-09-01 22:33:16 BRT): The system is going down for reboot NOW! Nothing but opening the notebook lid and pressing the power button for 4 seconds shutdowns the system. Cheers
