thanks for reporting back, and sorry for not finding the time to respond to you earlier. In unstable, Debian is currently staging a new version of gcc and the c++ standard library. This has unforseen effects on many library packages, and in turn, causes breakage for programs such as mpd that make use of a wide range of shared libraries to implement support for different audio file formats and encodings. This transition is not over yet, and can be expected to last for another few weeks. I'm keeping this bug open for the time being so that others experiencing an "undefined symbol error" can find a lead as to its cause. Florian
