As predicted, nothing relevant changed in debian libraw. However, there is actually good news on this front. In the master branch of darktable, the dependency on libraw has been removed. I don't expect it's feasible to backport, but we should have a new upstream major release before stretch. So it might make sense to reopen this bug and tag it fixed-upstream in order to track this progress. For reference, here is the last commit removing libraw.
