What you probably refer to are GTK+ Client Side Decorations, i.e. the "new" way of GNOME being different, "better" and incompatible with everything else. So when you use GNOME applications with CSDs, you're basically screwed. See for example: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=744249 There's https://github.com/PCMan/gtk3-nocsd but this is AFAIR no full solution to the problems imposed by CSDs. :-( And it's not yet packaged for Debian, see https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=788076 If you don't like CSDs, you're probably better of with using non-GNOME alternative applications, like the forks made by MATE :-) HTH, Chris.
