Could you please report the issue to the upstream gdk-pixbuf bugzilla on https://bugzilla.gnome.org/buglist.cgi?quicksearch=product%3Agdk-pixbuf (unless it has already been reported)? I've checked the upstream git repo and the code you pointed at as problematic still looks the same upstream. Please ping back once you've opened the upstream report and point out the tracking number for it, so that we can keep track of the progress of the upstream review for the proposed change.
