Source: gnome-shell Severity: important Dear Maintainer,
After a apt-get dist-upgrade I was too quickly disposing of gnome-shell when upgrading my system. After trying apt-get install gnome-shell afterwards it tells me that it has unmet dependencies. The following packages have unmet dependencies: gnome-shell : Depends: evolution-data-server (>= 3.7.90) but it is not going to be installed Recommends: gnome-contacts but it is not going to be installed It might be a problem with libphonenumber6 which is one of it's transitive dependencies which requires liboost-date-time.155.0 > apt-get install gnome-shell libphonenumber6 libboost-date-time1.55.0 > libstdc++6 norangshol@bluebox:~$ sudo apt-get install gnome-shell libphonenumber6 libboost-date-time1.55.0 libstdc++6 Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done libstdc++6 is already the newest version. Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of Incoming. The following information may help to resolve the situation: The following packages have unmet dependencies: libstdc++6 : Breaks: libboost-date-time1.55.0 but 1.55.0+dfsg-4 is to be installed E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages. > dpkg -l (grepping libboost and libstdc++) rc libboost-date-time1.55.0:amd64 1.55.0+dfsg-4 amd64 ii libstdc++6:amd64 5.2.1-14 amd64 GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libstdc++6:i386 5.2.1-14 i386 GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libstdc++6-4.7-dev:amd64 4.7.4-3 amd64 GNU Standard C++ Library v3 (development files) I wish to be able to install the gnome-shell package again. If this is a silly user error due to silly apt-get dist-upgrade, please ignore this bug report and slam me. :'( -- System Information: Debian Release: stretch/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 4.0.0-2-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
