Hello, I have patchset that essentially implements the major part of above proposal. It remove the renaming of network interfaces and depends on systemd/udev to do that properly. It configure network interfaces no matter what their name. I can configure more than 2 network interfaces (such as on Banana Pi with 4 ports). One predictable interface is set as WAN and remaining are configured for sharing.
I have tested the patch in a VM extensively but am currently doing a full build testing. We also need to test on various hardware. This patch requires removal of '--enable-dhcp' option from freedom-maker which will be submitted seperately. Let us try to release freedombox-setup 0.5 if this works reasonably. -- Sunil PS: We have another problem. Nick's fix for null MACs does not work anymore.
