Ok, switching to autoreconf (with b-d on ui-auto) is an option I will consider. Could you ponder a bit more why you think this is a policy violation? It seems a bit harsh considering how autotools work, and everything can be rebuild within Debian/main -- but maybe I missed something ;). Thanks!
