The only problem I see with this approach is that I have to monitor Jessie security updates closely and make sure to "import" any updated package in our Wheezy repository. I'd rather not mess with the APT configuration of our Wheezy hosts and add Jessie repositories along preferences/priorities/pinning, unless you tell me this is the recommended course of action from Debian point of view.
Do you have a wheezy-updates (previously known as 'volatile') apt line enabled in your sources.list by default? That repo has far less "accidental upgrade" surface than having jessie in sources.list. That might be the better spot for an updated package to be uploaded for wheezy users.
