According to this link, this error has already been fixed upstream.

I also consider this bug "serious", as the default mode should be "writethrough" according to the man page, but due to this bug it defaults to "writeback" and it stays "writeback" even if you specify it differently. Also it is not easy to find out what the actual mode is. So users might end up with writeback caches on non-redundant cache-storage, which is going to lead to disaster.

Please upgrade to an upstream version that has the fix. Thanks!!
