Hm, you are replacing udisksd here, not polkitd. Was that intentional?

Yes because I wanted to check that it was really udiskd that was initiating the problem because polkit was somehow blocking access. As udiskd had not been upgraded, it was obviously the policykit change.

The reboot did change polkitd so no need to replace. Downgrading and thus replacing polkitd without reboot did fix the problem.
