Hello

> What client are you using? What is the exact instability you're >seeing?

I've tested the problem with several clients: linux (mount -t cifs), win (xp / seven / 8.x) and mac. When I use (i.e. vlc) to listen a song, while listen almost 4/5 times the song goes down not even 1 seconds.

So, I tried with rsync via samba:

rsync --progress /remote/share/1Gb /local/share/

and by server side I see collapse the network

unusually tcpdump does not show me abnormalities...

no useful logs in whole linux OS: I've checked all! Different network cards, different cables, directly laptop-server, different disks, different kernels, init 1 tests, different samba config files, etc.

Finally I seen /etc/fstab strictatime option (!)

> Also, 3.6 is really old. Can you still reproduce it with 4.x?

For now I can't reproduce with samba 4.x but I plan to do it.

Thanks for help!

PS: my linux server is minimal installation (old stable from yesterday with no patches and/or strange things.
