bugs.debian.org already has redirects from http://bugs.debian.org/NNNNNN to http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=NNNNNN. It would be nice if the shorter URL was also available in the HTML. There is a proposal to indicate such shortlinks inside web pages [1][2]. Inside the <head> section of each bug only the following tag would be required: <link rel="shortlink" href="http://bugs.debian.org/NNNNN";> This is already supported by several tools (server- and client-side). E.g. browser addons can automatically copy the shorter link into the clipboard if requested by the user, which is then much friendlier to read when it is pasted somewhere.
