I believe this has something to do with the way AMD switchable graphics and X interact, and changes (fixes?) in the new driver.
I have a Samsung Chronos 7 with AMD Radeon HD 7400M Series I resolved it by doing 'aticonfig --px-igpu' in conjunction with using the fglrx device for my screen section in xorg.conf. I tried the other permutations, but there's either no acceleration, or no mouse: intel device in screen : aticonfig --px-dgpu [Mouse: yes Acceleration: no] intel device in screen : aticonfig --px-igpu [Mouse: yes Acceleration: no] fglrx device in screen : aticonfig --px-dgpu [Mouse: no Acceleration: yes] fglrx device in screen : aticonfig --px-igpu [Mouse: yes Acceleration: yes] !!
