If I use the standard kernels from wheezy or jessie the clock is set correctly, the message is: [ 1.971220] rtc_cmos 00:01: setting system clock to 2015-03-01 17:12:35 UTC (1425229955) My selfbuilt kernel does not emit such a message and there is no acpi_pm in /sys/devices/system/clocksource/clocksource0/available_clocksource. So the difference in qemu may be hidden by the distribution kernels getting the time in another way. In the mean time I'll try getting initramfs generated for my VMs. Thanks Timo
