It is apparently read by at least gpdf, and seems to be related to
$ grep Group\> .recently-used |sort -u
<Group>Eye of Gnome</Group>
<Group>OpenOffice.org</Group>
<Group>gimp</Group>
<Group>gpdf</Group>
