Package: simple-scan
Version: 3.14.0-1
Severity: normal

I have an hp scanjet 5550c scanner that used to work as of a month or so ago.
Now the scanner does not work. When I run simple-scan or xsane from the
command line, I see the following errors:

[hp5590] hp5590_control_msg: USB-in-USB: error reading data
[hp5590] hp5590_control_msg: USB-in-USB: error sending control message
[hp5590] hp5590_control_msg: USB-in-USB: error sending control message

This is what I see in syslog:

In that last month, I have installed upgrades that have hit testing. I have
tried on another computer running an up to date Debian testing with the same
results.
