This bug is entirely reproducible in 2.0.3 in Sarge, if you choose to
allow Evolution to delete your 1.4 configuration files.
Incindentally, migration from 1.4 to 2.0 bugs, in that it doesn't port
the signatures, either.
If you don't delete the 1.4 configuration files, you'll never notice
that the problem exists.
Here's the output from strace:
