I just found out that the patch suggested by Carsten Menzel in Debian
bug #703582 fixes the marshalling exception and lets the client
registration at the Spacewalk server succeed.
I would like to see this being fixed in Debian jessie, hence I intend
to raise the severity to 'serious' and ask release management to unblock
a fix for the package.
