From: Sami Liedes <[email protected]> Subject: [Pkg-haskell-maintainers] Bug#768337: ghc-mod: "ghc-mod is broken - called emacs-package-remove as a new-style add-on, but has no compat file." Date: Thu, 6 Nov 2014 17:45:47 +0200
Package: ghc-mod Version: 5.2.1.1-1 Severity: normal When upgrading ghc-mod, I get this message (which does not prevent installation): ------------------------------------------------------------ Preparing to unpack .../ghc-mod_5.2.1.1-1_amd64.deb ... ERROR: ghc-mod is broken - called emacs-package-remove as a new-style add-on, but has no compat file. Remove ghc-mod for emacs24 remove/ghc-mod: purging byte-compiled files for emacs24 Unpacking ghc-mod (5.2.1.1-1) over (4.1.2-2) ... ------------------------------------------------------------
This is happening because ghc-mod_4.1.2-2's prerm maintainer script calls emacs-package-remove and that version was missing the compat file. Version 5.2.1-1 fixes this issue so as long as you don't get the error when the new version is installed it's fine.
