Package: gnome-shell Version: 3.14.0-1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer,
* What led up to the situation? Using regular Gnome (the default during Jessie installation) for a couple of hours. Minimum time from restart of the computer to freeze was about 30 minutes. Maximum time was about 24 hours. I experienced this freeze about 5 times now. Running programs were chromium, icedove, standard terminals, nothing fancy. * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? I can't deduce a pattern of what I did. It is hard to tell if the freeze happens at the exact moment of clicking with the mouse, or in between clicks. The freeze happens even when not using the keyboard. * What was the outcome of this action? TTY 1-6 are still operational, TTY7 stays frozen. Mouse cursor can be moved, but no windows respond to clicking or typing. Killing gnome-shell would only remove window borders but would not restore interactivity. Restarting service gdm3 would get me back to the login screen, but after logging in, the screen stays black. A full restart of the computer brings the system back to operational. More infos: Running Xfce was stable for over one week, so it seems to be Gnome related. Gnome reports Intel Sandybridge Mobile as graphics card. I have an Asus laptop with NVIDIA Geforce GT540M chip. Freezes occurred before and after installing the package bumblebee.
