Personally I prefer sbuild as that's what Debian's builders use (and thus it's kind of the "official" builder), and it's very efficient. I don't want to personally maintain those as each new test runner is quite a commitment to maintain. But if someone wants to write one and a corresponding test suite and maintain it, I'm happy to include it.
