Package: aspell-da
Version: 1.6.25-1.1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

Recently uploaded aspell 0.60.7~20110707-1.2 included a partial multiarch
implementation, where aspell hashes can be shared between 32/64 bit
architectures with the same endianness (but not with different
endiannesses), by always using 32bit numbers.

Transition was automatic for arch:all aspell-dictionaries using
aspell-autobuildhash (the preferred method for packaging aspell
dictionaries), but there are still some arch:any aspell dictionaries.
Hashes shipped by those arch:any aspell dictionary packages for 64 bit
architectures will no longer work with new aspell, that always use 32
bit numbers, and need to be rebuilt against last aspell (or migrated to
aspell-autobuilhash).

aspell-da is one of them,

64bitsbox$ aspell check -d danish mytext.txt
Error: The file "/usr/lib/aspell/da.rws" is not in the proper format.
Incompatible hash function.

I have just uploaded an NMU to make aspell declare a break against old
non fixed aspell dictionaries. This means that aspell-da will not be
installable with new aspell until is fixed.

Sorry I did not warn in advance. I was convinced that Brian Nelson made
aspell-autobuildhash mandatory for all aspell-dictionaries. After noticing
this problem I was looking for the original reference, but only found the
mass bug report including

# #319619 aspell-da: Needs repackaging for latest aspell

where aspell-autobuildhash is established as the preferred method for
packaging aspell dictionaries, but not made mandatory.

Regards,
