On unstable, there are issues with gnome-shell 3.14 that just arrived few days ago in sid. I use it in testing on amd64 for some time now without any issue. Did you try to restart your gnome after installation? (Alt+F2 and type r) Did you tried to set it up using gnome tweak tools?
