After a few attempts I have noticed that the problem occurs only if the one of the last files being opened was a PDF file protected with the user password. So, the previewer (window: Recenbt Documents) can't handle such file with password, and simply exits. The efect is that you can not run the evince at all. If I am right, please send it upstream to find the solution.
