* What led up to the situation?
I'm trying to use the 'connect' and 'disconnet' options as described
in the man page of pppd in /etc/ppp/peers/dsl-provider.
* What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
ineffective)?
None of the scripts I specified are ever run when a connection is
established or goes down, respectively. The scripts work as intended
when I run them manually.
* What was the outcome of this action?
nothing
* What outcome did you expect instead?
that the scripts are being run as described in the man page
