After a plain Debian 7 install, installing mate-desktop-environment-extras doesn' t result in a fully-functional Mate environment. Steps to reproduce: - Install Debian 7 from debian-7.6.0-amd64-netinst.iso - Leave Debian Desktop out in dselect choices during install - Add Debian Backports to source, update repositories - Update Kernel from Debian Backports - Reboot, expecting graphical environment to start Instead, a text login prompt appears.
