Hello Alex, I have narrowed down the source of the text display problems somewhat. I was experimenting with using powerline with tmux. In order to do this, I needed to fully exit byobu/tmux so I could run a plain tmux session.
When I did this, I found that the inverted text problem was still present. I take this to mean that it is, in fact, tmux causing these terminal issues and not anything that byobu has added on to it or altered in its configuration.
