We initially tried that, but gave up on that. startpar is fundamentally incompatible with upstart right now, as it doesn't get along with "task". But that's covered in bug 713135. Ubuntu currently disables startpar. I'm fine to apply this patch as it doesn't really hurt, but beware that this is by far not the only "task" which causes trouble.
