Having come across this issue on a production system recently, I can confirm that applying the simple patch to the wheezy package resolves this bug.
Jochen, would you be prepared to request a stable update for this? If you'd prefer, I'm happy to handle it instead, as I'd really like to reduce the number of local patches we have. :-)
