After an upgrade to upower from 0.9.23-2+b2 to 0.99.0-3 version I'm no longer able to suspend/hibernate the system from the xfce. When I choose the end session option from the xfce menu I can now only see Logout, Reboot and Shutdown buttons. Suspend and Hibernation are not shown. Rebooting the system doesn't work. Reverting the upower to 0.9.23-2+b2 fixes the problem, so for now I'm sticking with this version.
