Thanks for packaging madwifi.

/usr/share/doc/madwifi-source/README.Debian is missing a step. If I
create an /etc/network/interfaces stanza of

   iface eth1 inet dhcp
            wireless_essid my-SSID
wireless_key mh-key
and run "ifup eth1", I get:

Error for wireless request "Set Encode" (8B2A) :
SET failed on device eth1 ; No such device.

Can you either describe how you map eth1 to the ath_pci module in your
README, or could you create an /etc/modprobe.d/madwifi file that
contains the appropriate aliases (or whatever is necessary to make this
happen automatically)?
For some reason, adding "alias eth1 ath_pci" to /etc/modprobe.d/local
isn't working for me...
Hi Bill,

The README would better use ath0 as an example instead of eth1. eth1 was only meant to be an example of usage, which is well documented in "man interfaces". So I'll fix that oversight, thanks.

"ifrename"; install it, read up on it. That is the tool that can reliably map interfaces to permanent aliases by mac adress (and other identifiers).

Thanks, Kel.
