it seems that pcscd doens't work with systemd.
I changed the file /lib/systemd/system/pcscd.service to enable
debugging to the logfile and now I get this when starting:
Please attach your modified /lib/systemd/system/pcscd.service file.

[Unit]
Description=PC/SC Smart Card Daemon
Requires=pcscd.socket
[Service]
ExecStart=/usr/sbin/pcscd --debug
ExecReload=/usr/sbin/pcscd
[Install]
Also=pcscd.socket
