I had exactly the same problem when installing flashplugin-nonfree: failed to read https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ at get-upstream-version.pl line 74. ERROR: failed to get upstream version More information might be available at: http://wiki.debian.org/FlashPlayer
The problem was solved by installing package ca-certificates. Now everything works OK. I think the script should either use http or depend on ca-certificates when using https martin -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
