Since I'm not in the mood of starting a titles/severity/tags war with some apparently security ignorant member from the security team (o.O)... I'm out of the game here (see also https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2014/06/msg00393.html),... Bart, if you have technical questions/comments/etc. I'll happily try to help as good as I can... but I'm really out of the "political" discussion here unless Debian has decided whether it wants security or not. And looking at the whole thread above and the disturbing view of at least some security team members... I rather think that Debian has some much deeper problems with respect to it's security attitude, than just this concrete technical issue. Cheers, Chris.
